I have a client going to Verizon Sip trunking and here is the verbiage taken out of the Sip Trunking informational regarding Fax:
Fax Machines
G3 faxes that support G.711 can send and receive faxes over Verizon VoIP. Faxing over Verizon VoIP is supported, however, an occasional fax error is possible with certain types of fax machines. In order to minimize errors:
- Fax machines must be configured with error correction turned off.
2. Ensure fax machines and phones are all serviced from the same punch-down or patch panel.
T.38 fax will be offered starting in 3Q, 2011.
If your environment is heavy fax shop, or you depend on fax for your day to day operations, Verizon Sip Trunks are NOT the way to go!
